Haircuts are like new beginnings...
Have you ever considered the value of a haircut? I know, I know--women don't get "haircuts"--they go in to be styled!
But, for us hairy-legged ol' boys, a haircut is a lot like a new lease on life. It's a necessity--sometimes one we put off way too easily (but, isn't that the way with all change?); it's sometimes an ordeal to go through (you have to sit through a dozen old men in line ahead of you, each of whom want to determine whether he may be some blood-kin to you on your "Maw's side of the family"); it can seem dangerous (today, the barber--who himself appeared to have been borrowed from an exhibit at the Ancient History of Haircare Museum--used a straight razor to shave my neck and throat. A straight razor!! Nobody uses one of those in this day and age! I haven't even seen one since about 1970!); but, in the end, it's basically fairly painless and you're really glad you did it, because you now have a new lease on life: a new coiffure that lends itself to easy styling and carefree maintenance--and the process, ordeal that it was, seems like small potatoes compared to the result.
Why do we fear change so? I wish I knew! But, from my years of experience in counseling others and in my own life, I can say that fear of change is a constant that links all humanity.
Pray for me as I endure the process, the the result would be for God's glory.
Thanks for your love and support! Know that we're praying for each of you, and we love you and value your friendship very much!
